This
competition, reserved each year for the best 25
riders in the world, took place in the heart of Paris,
recognised by its arena constructed with blue sand, which was created
in celebration of the jubilee of my horse
Jappeloup in 1991. Since 1992, I have been organising 4 to 6 competitions every year in Lacanau’s “Horse Village”, one of which is an international competition for young riders, the LACANAU JUMP. In 2006, I was in charge of an international show jumping competition for young riders and a two-star international show jumping competition at the Haras de Jardy equestrian centre near PARIS. Finally, in 1994, while I was chairman of the French Federation of Equestrian Sports (FFE), I put forward the concept of the current FEI Nations Cup, the Samsung Super League.

It's at Lacanau Ocean, some 30 kilometres from Bordeaux, that Pierre Durand masterminded equestrian activities within one complex, comprising an hotel, apartments and villas. A dynamic and competent team welcomed riders of all levels and all ages, year round (up to and including training courses), to a kingdom for lovers of riding. There was a stable block for 70 horses, an all weather sand arena 'Toubin Clément' of 120 x 60 metres, as well as luxurious complimentary facilities (grooming area, drying, shower, infra-red, UV). I stopped all collaborative work in 2007
